Financial Aid
We recognize that the full cost of an independent school education may be beyond the means of the families of many outstanding students. The financial aid program provides tuition assistance to qualified students who otherwise could not afford to enroll at CSS. Financial aid decisions are made independently of admission decisions and in no way affect a candidate's chances for admission.
The Colorado Springs School follows the guiding principles established by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) that the responsibility of financing a private education rests primarily with the student's family. Approximately one-third of our families receive financial assistance. To apply for financial assistance, the family must submit the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) through School and Student Services and copies of IRS 1040 and supporting statements. Upon review the financial aid committee awards grants based on a family's ability to pay. Grants are for tuition only and do not include the cost of books, supplies, transportation, school trips, lunches, or personal expenses.
Scholarships
The Colorado Springs School provides opportunities for exceptional students entering 6th grade and high school grades to receive scholarships through The Colorado Springs School Scholar Program. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of testing results, interviews, and teacher recommendations. These awards are renewable each year that the student remains in good academic and social standing throughout his/her years in that particular division (Middle School or Upper School).
The scholarship exam, SSAT for students entering 9th grade, is scheduled at CSS each November. In addition to the exam and interview, a completed application is required of all applicants. To prepare for the SSAT exam, click here. You will find practice questions and find helpful resources.
Tuition does not cover the full cost of educating your child at CSS. Each year, our school families, faculty and staff, alumni, and friends give generously to the Annual Fund to benefit all children at The Colorado Springs School.
