Extended Care Program

The Extended Care Program is a service of The Colorado Springs School, Children's School Division. This service is offered to the parents of students in the Kindergarten through fifth grade (PreK can attend morning care). All Children's School students who are on campus before 7:50 a.m. or after 3:30 p.m. are required to be in the Extended Care Program.

DROP OFF / PICK UP PROCEDURES:
Allchildren attending extended care in the morning must be escorted intothe classroom and signed in by a parent/guardian. All childrenattending extended care in the afternoon must be signed out by aparent/guardian and escorted from the classroom. Siblings are notallowed to sign the students out of extended care unless they are inthe 6th grade or above, responsible for the child, and a letter fromthe parent is on file with the Extended Care Program.

HOURS: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Morning Extended Care is in the Early Childhood Center (PreK room):
7:30 a.m. - 7:50 a.m. for PreKindergarten - Fifth Grade
Afternoon Extended Care is in the Children's Academic Center
3:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. for Kindergarten - Fifth Grade

ENROLLMENT:
When you fill out the "Weekly dismissal" form, you choose the days and times that you need extended care. For children who require regular extended care, a standing reservation can be made that guarantees a spot for the days selected.If care is not needed that day, the parent is requird to cancel the reservation by contacting Mrs. Walters. Failing to do so, the parent will be charged for the time reserved.

FEES:
The fee for a standing reservation or drop-in care is $6.50 per hour. There is aminimum charge of one hour for afternoon extended care; however, beyond one hour, the fees are billed in half-hour increments. Morning care is a charge of $3.25.

DROP-IN RESERVATIONS:
Due to the number of standing reservations in the Extended Care Program, drop-in spaces are limited. To find out if drop-in space is available, contact Mrs. Walters in the Children's School Office at 434-3540 (direct line).Drop-in spaces are not guaranteed.

LATE PICK UP / NO RESERVATIONS:
Failing to make a reservation will result in a charge of $6.00 for every 15 minutes the child is in extended care. All children not picked up by 3:30 p.m. will be brought to Dr. Nelson's office, and their parents will be charged $6.00 for every 15 minutes. A late fee of $1.00 per minute is charged when children are not picked up by 5:30 p.m. (Except in cases of true emergency) True Emergency: Sudden personal or family injury, weather related cancellation of classes or after school activities.

SNACK:
Children are to bring a snack from home.
