Roles and Responsibilities:
The Colorado Springs School seeks an experienced, dynamic, and versatile math educator who can lead classes, including Finance, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Advanced Statistics. This individual would be an integral member of the math department. A successful candidate will have a knack for engaging students through inquiry and project-based learning and making learning relevant to the world students will inherit. This teacher will also participate in Experiential Centered Seminars, which require extended periods with students, ranging from a single overnight to several days.
The position’s preferred qualifications:
Degree in economics, finance, or a related field
Experience teaching courses from 9th through 12th grades
Independent school experience
Demonstrated successful history with innovation in the teaching of the subject areas listed above, technology integration, curriculum design, and experiential-based learning
Experience in teaching English Language Learners (ELL), particularly international students
The Upper School Math/Finance Teacher will:
Teach Finance, Statistics, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics
Serve as an advisor for 8-10 students, providing academic, extracurricular, social, and personal guidance and serving as the school’s key liaison to parents
Support a differentiated and globally integrated curriculum that includes student engagement through project-based learning, hands-on activities, experimentation and iteration, and other active approaches to learning
Support the experiential education in the upper school by leading an Experience Centered Seminar
Attend all faculty meetings, department meetings, and other meetings as required
Complete grades/comments, advisor letters, and other forms of academic communication in a timely, professional manner
Promote the development of character, community, and curiosity in all dealings with students, including enforcing school rules
Appreciate and support varying learning abilities through robust lesson planning and rigorous assessment
Pursue opportunities for professional growth on an annual basis
Other duties as assigned
