Each year, first-grade students participate in the research project People Who Changed the World – formerly known as Famous Americans – a longtime tradition spanning three decades. This milestone marks the first public speaking experience for young Kodiaks.
Students research an individual of their choice, highlight their findings using trifold boards and deliver a presentation in front of their classmates, teachers, and family, sharing important details, dates, and meaningful events in this person's life history.
This interactive theme of study provides young learners with key skills needed to prepare them for a dynamic world. Learning to conduct research, synthesize information, create a display, and share their knowledge while dressed as a select influential figure, they never fail to impress with their poise, confidence, and enthusiasm.
