The Class of 2029 dressed in period clothing on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, to participate in the 5th grade annual Ellis Island Simulation. Each year, this hands-on learning experience gives students a glimpse at the trials faced by immigrants in the early 1900s. Playing the role of a fictitious European immigrant, students transitioned step-by-step through the processing experience witnessed by so many upon arriving at Ellis Island. Rotating through the stations, students were met by faculty and staff volunteers who asked questions regarding their vocational background, character, health, and wealth. At the conclusion, students' answers determined whether they would be admitted to America or deported to their country of origin.
