Dear CSS Families,
Greetings from CSS! It is hard to believe but planning for the 2016-2017 school year’s calendar with major vacations and important dates and for programs and the budget are well underway!
Today I have two important announcements: 2016-2017 tuition rates and the new Indexed Tuition program.
Re-enrollment for 2016-2017 will be open from Monday, February 1, 2016 - Friday, February 19, 2016. Timelines, process, and instructional tools for re-enrollment and Indexed Tuition applications are referenced in further detail at Re-Enrollment Resources.
2016-2017 Tuition
As a critical part of the planning process for the next school year, the CSS Board of Trustees has approved tuition and fees for the 2016-2017. Great effort at the administrative and board levels has been put into keeping our tuition increases as small as a possible while maintaining the strength of our innovative programs. Operating with a small and talented administrative team allows us to allocate the vast majority of our annual budget to faculty support and program development, serving our students and parents well.
PreK: $5,800 - $11,800 (0% increase)
Grade K - 5th: $15,800 (1.7% increase; $225 increase)
Grade 6 - 8: $19,600 (1.4% increase; $280 increase)
Grade 9 - 12: $21,200 (1.9% increase; $350 increase)
International: $26,000 (0% increase)
Tuition, combined with annual giving and our endowment draw, allows us to meet our budget and accomplish our most important strategic goals:
1. To continue to retain, recruit, and reward the finest faculty in the region
2. To promote active student engagement and the development of 21st-century skills
3. To pioneer educational technology that drives and promotes student learning
Indexed Tuition
Following a careful study of national trends, CSS is adopting a new marketing program, called Indexed Tuition, emphasizing the school’s fair and clear policies that enhance affordability for families that qualify. The school’s policies of distributing financial assistance to current and new families will still require substantive documentation and be indexed through SSS by NAIS as they have been in the past.
The Board of Trustees is determined to make a CSS education accessible to families from a wide range of economic backgrounds and wants to avoid the “sticker shock” that can occur when families are presented only with the upper end of the range.
Recruiting other families to share in the costs and benefits of our innovative and excellent program, while still maintaining an appropriately small class size, will allow us to provide additional resources for your student(s) to excel academically, artistically, socially and emotionally.
We encourage you to share your CSS experiences with other families and spread the message of affordability.
Thank you, as always, for choosing to send your child(ren) to CSS.
Warmly,
Aaron Schubach
Head of School
