CSS Welcomes Security Officers to Campus

As part of our ongoing campus security enhancements at The Colorado Springs School, two armed security officers have been added to the Kodiak Community, thanks to a generous donation from a current CSS family.

After a thorough, multi-month evaluation of the top security companies in the area, Baker & King Security Services was selected as our provider. In September, we welcomed Officers Anthony Osroff and Jose Galvan Jr., both military veterans, to the CSS Community.

Officer Anthony served ten years in the United States Army as an infantryman from September 2013 to December 2023. He completed two deployments, one to Afghanistan and another to Africa. He has consistently exceeded expectations at Baker & King Security Services, receiving praise from clients, colleagues, and management for his skills in patrol organization, report writing, communication, and his exemplary traits of patience, confidence, humility, integrity, and de-escalation.

Officer Jose Galvan Jr. joined the United States Army in June 2018 as a cannon crewmember before he transitioned into an office role while recovering from surgeries that led to his early retirement in January 2024. His military experience instilled in him the importance of preparedness, empathy, and effective communication. His ability to support and guide others during stressful times makes him a valuable asset.

Both Officer Anthony and Officer Jose were eager and appreciative to accept their assignments at The Colorado Springs School.

"This is a great opportunity. I love kids, and I love safety," Officer Anthony said. "Putting those two together—what better place could I do that?"

As a parent, Officer Jose understands the importance of children learning and growing in a secure environment.

"If I wasn't physically capable of doing this job, I would want someone else to step up and protect my children the way I would protect theirs," Officer Jose said.

In addition to adding the officers, we will also be installing a new Verkada camera system and keyless access points across our campus, due to recent funding received by CSS. These upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

“I want to emphasize that student, faculty, and staff safety will always remain my number one priority,” CSS Head of School Dr. Ryan Kelly said. “These enhancements to our security measures reflect our unwavering commitment to providing a secure learning environment where our students can thrive without concern. We will continue to assess and improve our safety protocols to ensure the well-being of every member of our school community.”

The Colorado Springs School is deeply grateful for the continued support and generosity of our community members, along with the support from our Board of Trustees, who play a crucial role in making these advancements possible.

“It is truly exciting to see the power of collectivity and partnership at work,” CSS Director of Development Aubryn Bednar said. “This initiative drives meaningful progress for our CSS Community.”
