Eighth grader Micah R. ‘24 took first place Tuesday in the The Colorado Spring School’s annual National Geographic GeoBee. Seventh grader Norah O. ‘25 took second place, and 8th grader Adhista E. ‘24 took third place.
Thirteen Middle School students qualified to participate. The other students included 6th graders Connor M. ‘26, Wyatt N. ‘26, Emmi M. ‘26, and Tejin M. ‘26; 7th graders Hayden D. ‘25, Pedro G. ‘25, and Elliott C. ‘25; and 8th graders Alex H. ‘24, Taylor H. ‘24, and Nora V. ‘24.
Micah will take a qualifying written exam to know if he advances to the State GeoBee, which will be held this spring in Denver.
Last year, Micah was in a tie-breaker against Alex for first place; Alex won first place in 2019, as well as in 2018.
The GeoBee was developed in 1989 to boost geography knowledge among young people. During the past three decades, 120 million students have learned about the world by participating in the competition.
