The Colorado Springs School welcomed students back to campus for the first time since March, when the school shifted to e-Learning because of the global pandemic.
The school features 28 acres for on-campus learning with small class sizes and outdoor classrooms, including pergolas that our community helped build. We are prepared for quick pivots to robust e-Learning with Google Classrooms.
Middle School and Upper School began on-campus learning August 24, 2020, then reverted to e-Learning the following week. Children’s School students began e-Learning at home on August 24, 2020, before returning to campus August 31, 2020.
All students are scheduled to return to campus September 8, 2020. Click here to view photos of the first day on campus for Middle School and Upper School, and click here for photos of the first day on campus for the Children’s School.
“It has been absolutely fantastic welcoming all of our students to campus,” Head of School Tambi Tyler said. “Our staggered start has allowed each division to practice and understand the protocols that are necessary for this new and unpredictable school year.”
The school hired a medical doctor to serve as Health Coordinator. The position was created to better prepare us for the health divide after quarantine and to ensure we have someone who can provide the school with an on-going, relevant health curriculum, and support.
All students undergo a daily health screening, including a temperature check on campus, before entering classrooms. Faculty and staff, as well as all students in prekindergarten through 12th grade, wear face masks to follow health and safety guidelines. Social distancing is also practiced campus-wide.
“The smiles, sounds, and support that we have shared with each other have been amazing,” Tyler said. “Each outdoor classroom, mask break, and activity has shown we are capable of living up to our mission of preparing students for a dynamic world.”
