The Tall Ships ECS is getting ready to set sail! We have spent this first few days of ECS prepping for our departure to St. Croix bright and early Sunday morning. This week we have focused on learning about the history, culture, and geography of the United States Virgin Islands. Through student presentation, videos, and articles, we have been learning about the place we are going.
Additionally, we are learning practical skills that will be necessary while we are sailing! We started off by taking our snorkel and swim test in a local pool, and started developing some knot tying skills that will come in handy aboard the Roseway. As our knot tying skills advanced, we visited our Kindergarten ECS buddies to give them a presentation about our upcoming adventure and we showed them a few of the knots we just learned. We’ve also begun studying the various parts of the ship in preparation for our adventure aboard (and our test on Friday). Everyone is ready to get on board and experience the open ocean!
