In the business world things must get done. Problems must be conquered with ingenuity and persistence. Every innovative company designs things, builds things, tests things, and overcomes complex roadblocks. This seminar immerses students in the world of engineering and ideas. From the building of structures to improving consumer products to aerospace engineering, this seminar sets out to learn how innovation occurs and improves the world. Students visit successful companies, engage in their own design challenges, and ultimately help develop and build a working suspension bridge. Each member of this seminar is expected to work effectively as part of a team and participate with hands-on use of materials and equipment. Students can expect to have exposure to an array of STEM careers, have their mathematical skills reinforced, and begin to see the world in a new way.
